How does Gaggle work?
Gaggle is not just an app or just a tag. Gaggle allows multiple people to track multiple beacons and uses the power of the group to ensure everyone knows if any of the beacons go out of range. The responsible chaperone will be notified first, and they can escalate the alerts to others on the trip, and even anyone with the app on their phone.

How does Gaggle work?
We developed this proprietary safety technology service to help teachers and chaperones know that the children under their care are nearby. The Gaggle app alerts you when a member of your group wanders out of range.
Unlike other products you may find out there, Gaggle is designed to let multiple people track multiple subjects. Other services are designed to allow only one person to do the tracking at a time, and you need to disconnect your device to allow someone else to start tracking.
Can you connect to more than one Gaggle beacon?
Yes. Unlike other devices on the market, you may connect to and track as many Gaggle bracelets as you want.
Can anyone search for my Gaggle beacon?
If they are part of your trip, then yes. All chaperones on the same trip will see all Gaggle beacons that are configured for the event. Random people with the app will not be able to detect or track your Gaggle beacons. The one exception is in the event of a lost child where you escalate the alert to the public to ask them to help you find your lost child. In that case, anyone with the app will be able to track the one Gaggle beacon to help find your lost child.
What is the range of Gaggle?
We designed this to work line of sight. The useful range is about 30-100 feet. In clear areas with no obstructions you may still see the beacons at over 250 feet, but indoors and with other people around the range is reduced.
Why not use GPS?
GPS is very hard on batteries and a GPS based tracker will need to be recharged after every trip, and might not last for longer outings such as camps. Also, you avoid parent privacy concerns because you are not tracking the exact location and seeing where their child goes at all times.
What phones does Gaggle work with?
Most modern smart phones will work. Most devices released in the last 2 years are supported. The Gaggle app is compatible with any iPhone 4S or later with iOS 8.0+ and Android 4.4+ with Bluetooth 4.0.
Is Gaggle waterproof?
Gaggle is water resistant. Gaggle has been tested in wet conditions with no adverse affects, but we would not recommend swimming with the bracelets on.
How do I get started with Gaggle?
How long will the Gaggle beacons last?
The batteries in the Gaggle beacons should last from one to three years with normal use. This should cover between 50 to 60 field trips. The Gaggle tag has a user replaceable battery, but the bracelet is not. Once the battery dies in the Gaggle bracelet, you may return the unit to us for a discounted replacement bracelet.
Are the batteries replaceable?
The Gaggle Tag uses a CR2477 battery that you can replace if you are careful. The Gaggle Bracelet was not designed for easy battery replacement. We are working on a new design that will allow you to replace batteries in all our devices.
How many people can gaggle track?
Many. The app does not have a limit, but we have not tested with more than 200 beacons on a single trip.
Do the Gaggle Beacons have GPS?
No, we don’t want children to broadcast their position. However, the chaperone will know the current/last known position of the group. In the event someone gets lost, the app will be able to show you the general location of where they were last seen.
Do I need to have internet connection to use Gaggle?
No. It does help to have it if there are multiple chaperones, and/or multiple groups. WiFi/phone connectivity is required for communication/status to be shared. Without connection you will still be alerted if someone in your own group wanders off.
